ColdFusion Golf is the leader in cold weather golf products. Its mission is to provide golfers with solutions that will help improve their golf game and have more consistency and fun on the course when the temperature drops below 60 degrees F.
ColdFusion Golf was founded when Curtis Colvin, owner of Club Guy Golf, went looking for a golf ball to better serve the needs of his clients who wanted to play golf throughout the winter months. After searching the market for a ball that could perform well in cold weather and coming away empty handed, Colvin decided to create one himself.
In January 2014, the company officially launched ColdFusion Golf balls in North America.
The Plan: Media Relations
I was brought in to help create brand awareness and kick-start sales of the only cold weather golf ball in the world.
Over a 3 week period I planned and executed a focused PR campaign targeted at golf media outlets and journalists throughout the US and Canada. I also performed personal outreach to the golf blogging community to garner reviews of the product and increase brand awareness with golfers on social media.
Within weeks of the launch, the company received
- Positive media attention from major golf publications and influential bloggers (e.g. Sports Illustrated Golf, Inside Golf Magazine, Golf Digest Stix, RV Life, SportMondo, Golf Stinks/Back 9 Network, Ottawa Golf Blog, Golf for Beginners, The Hackers Paradise)
- Bulk orders and new partnerships in Iceland and the United Kingdom who wanted to distribute ColdFusion Golf balls in their respective territories
